Terms of use

DesiAgenda is a free, non-commercial community project run by an individual based in the Netherlands. It is not yet registered with the KvK and earns no money; see Legal & company details. These terms are governed by Dutch law, and disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands. Nothing here limits your rights as a consumer under Dutch or EU law.

We publish a calendar of South Asian events in the Netherlands, collected from organisers and from public sources, and reviewed by a person before they go live. A review is not a guarantee: the organiser is responsible for the event and for what it says about it.

Browsing and listing events on DesiAgenda are free. We may later offer optional paid promotion (for example a boost to the homepage); its price is always shown before you choose it, and nothing is charged without your agreement. Without an account you see a preview; with a free account you see everything, can save events and follow organisers.

You must be 16 or older to have an account. Use your own details, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has it. You can download your data or delete your account at any time from your account.

DesiAgenda does not sell tickets and never receives your money. Every ticket is an agreement between you and the organiser.

You buy tickets on the organiser’s own website or ticket shop. We tell you before you leave DesiAgenda; from there their terms apply.

Refunds, changes and cancellations are the organiser’s responsibility. If you can’t reach them, write to hello@desiagenda.nl and we will help. Tickets for a leisure event on a fixed date are excluded from the 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases (art. 6:230p BW), so a ticket can’t be returned just because plans change. Your rights if the event is cancelled or materially changed are not affected.

By listing an event you confirm that:

• you are entitled to promote it;
• you own or may use every image and text you give us, and we may show it on DesiAgenda and in promoting the event (a free, non-exclusive licence that ends when the listing is removed);
• the details are correct, including date, venue, price and age policy. If our AI reader filled the listing in from your poster, you checked it before sending;
• you follow the law that applies to your event, including consumer and tax law.

We review every new listing and every edit. We may decline or remove a listing that is misleading, unlawful, discriminatory, or not an event, and we tell you why.

Events we found ourselves. We also list public events from organisers’ and venues’ websites. If one of them is yours, you can ask us to correct it, take it over, or remove it.

You sell tickets yourself, on your own website or ticket shop; DesiAgenda never handles the money. You are responsible for your prices, VAT and the terms of your ticket shop.

You decide on refunds and must handle them fairly and quickly if your event is cancelled or changed.

If we ever pass you the details of someone going to your event (for example their name and email). You then hold that data as an independent controller under the GDPR, and you agree to:

• use it only for that event: admission and news about the event itself;
• not add people to a mailing list or send them marketing unless they agreed to that with you separately;
• keep it safe, never sell or share it, and delete it when you no longer need it.

Please don’t:

• submit fake, duplicate or misleading events;
• send spam, or use contact details from DesiAgenda to send it;
• harass, abuse or discriminate against anyone;
• scrape the site, resell listings, or pretend to be an organiser you are not;
• upload anything unlawful, or anything you don’t have the rights to.

We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these terms, and we tell you why. You can always reply and ask us to look again.

Write to hello@desiagenda.nl, in English or Dutch, with a link to what is wrong and why. This is also our point of contact for authorities under the EU Digital Services Act. We look at every report quickly and carefully, tell you what we decided, and if we remove or limit something we explain why to the person who posted it. Rights holders: tell us which image or text is yours and we will act on it.

DesiAgenda is offered as it is. We do our best to keep listings correct, but we can’t promise every detail is complete or that an event goes ahead as described — that is up to the organiser. We are not liable for indirect loss. Nothing here limits liability for intent or gross negligence, or anything that can’t be limited under Dutch law.

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed; if a change matters for you and you have an account, we email you first.
