Privacy

DesiAgenda is currently run by an individual based in the Netherlands, not a registered company — there is no KvK-registered entity yet. This section will be updated with full company details once one exists.

For anything on this page, write to hello@desiagenda.nl. We answer data requests within one month, as the AVG requires.

You can browse every event, search, filter and open any listing without an account and without signing in. We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts on those pages.

Saving an event or following an organiser while signed out is stored in your own browser (localStorage) and never leaves your device until you sign in. If you then create an account, we offer to move those saves into it — that is the one moment browser-held data becomes account data, and it only happens because you asked for it.

Your light/dark preference is stored in the same way, under desihub.theme. It is a display setting, not an identifier.

We ask for, and store:

• Your email address and password. Your password is hashed at the point you set it and is never visible to us in plain text.
• Your name, date of birth and gender. The name is how we greet you. The date of birth exists because some events are 16+ or 18+ and because we must not knowingly hold accounts for children under 13. Gender includes “Prefer not to say”, which is a real answer and is stored as such.
• Your city, languages and the categories you are interested in, if you give them — used to order the “For You” list on the homepage, and nothing else.
• Events you save and organisers you follow.

Legal basis: performing the service you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) AVG) for the account itself, and your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for the optional preference fields, which you can clear at any time from your profile.

The signup form at the bottom of the site asks for your email, and — optionally — your city and the categories you are into, so the events we send you are ones you would actually go to. We only email you if you sign up here or tick the option on your account; it is never on by default.

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) AVG). To stop, email hello@desiagenda.nl and we will remove you — we keep the list small enough that this is a person doing it, not a queue.

The organiser name, contact email, and everything you write about the event are stored and reviewed by a person before publication. The event details you submit are published; your contact email is not shown publicly — it is how we reach you about the listing, and how the listing is matched to your organiser account.

Card details never reach DesiAgenda directly. Payment is handled by a payment processor, who acts as their own controller for the card details themselves; we store the order, the tickets issued, and the email address the tickets were sent to, because that is what a ticket is. Many events on DesiAgenda are booked on the organiser’s own site instead — when that happens we say so before you leave, and what you do there is covered by their privacy policy, not ours.

We use standard cloud infrastructure providers to host our website, run our database, and store data securely within the EU, plus a payment processor for any ticket bought directly on DesiAgenda. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Where a provider stores data outside the European Economic Area, that transfer relies on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your account and its contents stay until you delete the account. An email-updates signup stays on the list until you unsubscribe. Orders and tickets are kept for seven years, because Dutch tax law requires it. Event listings stay published after the event has happened, as a public record of what took place.

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to what we do with it, and to have it sent to another service. Email hello@desiagenda.nl and we will answer within a month.

If you think we have got it wrong, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

DesiAgenda sets one cookie: the session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary for the service, which is why there is no cookie banner — under the Dutch Telecommunicatiewet, consent is not required for a cookie that only does what you asked for. If we ever add analytics or advertising, we will ask first.
